Veterinary roles we recruit

Who does your practice
need to hire?

Choose the recruitment service for your vacancy, from a general-practice associate to a specialist or multi-hospital leader.

For Jacksonville veterinary employers

Duval, Clay, St. Johns and Nassau.
Specific hospital assignments.

A San Marco associate role, an Orange Park emergency shift and a Fernandina Beach medical director search need different briefs. Start with the hospital address, clinical resources and schedule, then agree the search with BEGHR.

Associate veterinarians

Specify independent procedures, appointment capacity and doctor overlap. If recruiting a newer graduate, name the mentor and protect teaching time in the schedule. State the pay structure so candidates can compare offers on the same terms.

Plan an associate search →

Specialist and emergency appointments

Define the discipline, required credentials, shift pattern and resources already available. Explain referral communication, overnight staffing and inpatient handover, including where cases go when the hospital cannot take them.

Scope a specialist role →

Medical and regional leadership

List the hospitals and decision authority. In Florida, state whether the hire will be the responsible veterinarian named on a premise permit, and separate that from clinical workload, coaching and site visits.

Define a medical director role →

Give candidates the location details before interviews.

Use the actual work address, the municipality or planning district and any second hospital. Do not present a Fernandina Beach or Orange Park vacancy as interchangeable with a Jacksonville neighborhood hospital. A rotating role should state whether movement between sites happens between working days or during a clinical shift, and which side of the St. Johns River each site is on.

Keep one clear decision process.

Choose the clinical and operational interviewers, confirm the employer-approved package and identify who can authorize an offer. Use the same role-related criteria for every candidate and give one person responsibility for feedback. Review the hiring brief and candidate scorecard before outreach.

Choose the service that matches the vacancy.

This is permanent placement for employers. Your practice hires the selected candidate directly. An immediate relief shift needs a separate arrangement; this service does not promise a locum available today. Job seekers can start with BEGHR’s veterinary placement page; the pricing form here is for employer inquiries.

Plan Florida credential checks before the start date.

Use the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation online license search for the relevant professional record. Florida licenses veterinarians through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and the Board of Veterinary Medicine regulates veterinarians, premise permits and limited-service clinics. Assign a person to verify license status, record the date and resolve questions with the Department. Check any additional specialty credentials required by the employer with the issuing organization.

For a candidate moving from another state, review the Florida Board of Veterinary Medicine licensing information. Florida applicants must pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination and the Florida laws and rules examination. A veterinarian with an active license in good standing in another state may apply by endorsement, and an applicant with no disciplinary history may complete a Florida laws and rules course in place of the exam. Do not treat an out-of-state license or a preferred start date as confirmation that Florida requirements are satisfied. The Department determines eligibility and timing; BEGHR does not issue licenses.

Florida does not regulate veterinary technicians, so confirm any technician certification with the issuing organization. For exam details and technician certification, see the Department’s veterinary medicine examination page and the Florida Veterinary Technicians Association certification page.

Veterinary recruitment coverage

Jacksonville and
surrounding communities.

A Jacksonville veterinary search starts with the municipality and county, because the City of Jacksonville shares its government with Duval County and four other municipalities sit inside the county. Business Executive Group uses the employer’s role, schedule and location to scope a permanent search for hospitals in Jacksonville and in Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties.

Name the planning district or municipality and the street address. San Marco, Mandarin and Arlington are Jacksonville neighborhoods. Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Baldwin are separate municipalities in Duval County. Orange Park and Fleming Island are in Clay County, Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine are in St. Johns County, and Fernandina Beach and Yulee are in Nassau County. Coverage on this site is limited to Florida; a hospital in Georgia falls under a different state licensing authority. Then state what the role asks of the doctor, because candidates compare terms before they compare neighborhoods. A full-time Jacksonville associate role should give the days worked each week, how leave and continuing education are covered and who the doctor works beside. A Jacksonville specialist or surgeon role should name the referral network, the advanced equipment on site and the certified colleagues who share cases. A Jacksonville emergency role should describe the overnight team, the handover and the hospital that takes transfers. A Jacksonville medical director role should say which hospitals the premise permit covers, because the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation requires every premise permit application to list the licensed veterinarian responsible for managing the establishment. When a role covers more than one site, give the drive distance in miles between them and say whether each hospital serves a city neighborhood, a beach community or a neighboring county. Telehealth does not remove the license step: the Department states that a veterinarian must be licensed in Florida to provide telehealth to an animal located in Florida, including one in Jacksonville.

Urban Core

Planning District 1, Urban Core, lists the St. Johns River as its eastern boundary. Downtown Northbank and Downtown Southbank are separate redevelopment areas on opposite sides of that river, so name the bank and the street address before describing a role as downtown. Keep a Springfield hospital separate from a Downtown site.

Northwest

Planning District 5, Northwest, is bounded on the east by Margaret Avenue and I-95 and on the west by Otis Road and Old Plank Road. The city’s neighborhood registry lists Riverside Avondale Preservation in this district. Give the street address and the neighborhood name instead of the district name.

Southwest

Planning District 4, Southwest, is bounded by the St. Johns River on the east, the Clay County line on the south and the Baker County line on the west. Murray Hill, Ortega and Argyle are listed in this district by the city’s neighborhood registry. Confirm whether a hospital near the southern edge is in Duval or Clay County.

Southeast

Planning District 3, Southeast, lists Beach Boulevard as its north line, the St. Johns County line as its south line and the Intracoastal Waterway as part of its east line. San Marco, Baymeadows and Mandarin are separate workplaces. A hospital near the county line may be in St. Johns County instead.

Greater Arlington

Planning District 2, Greater Arlington/Beaches, lists the St. Johns River on its west and north, Beach Boulevard on its south, and the Intracoastal Waterway, Church Road and the Atlantic Beach municipal boundary on its east. Arlington and Fort Caroline are Jacksonville neighborhoods in this district. The beach cities are separate municipalities and have their own group.

North

Planning District 6, North, runs to the Nassau County line and the ocean, with the GS&F Railroad on its west side. Its citizens planning committee meets at the Oceanway Community Center. A hospital near the northern edge may be in Nassau County, so confirm the county before naming the role.

Beaches and Baldwin

Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach and Baldwin are incorporated municipalities inside Duval County, not neighborhoods of the City of Jacksonville. Use the municipality in the hospital address, and keep Jacksonville neighborhoods in the other groups.

Clay County

Orange Park is an incorporated town and Green Cove Springs is an incorporated city. Fleming Island and Oakleaf Plantation are Census designated places, not municipalities. All four are in Clay County, outside the City of Jacksonville and Duval County.

St. Johns County

St. Augustine is an incorporated city. Ponte Vedra is an unincorporated area under the county’s Ponte Vedra Zoning District, and Nocatee is a Census designated place. All three are in St. Johns County, not Duval County, so confirm the county before naming the role.

Nassau County

Fernandina Beach is an incorporated city and Yulee is a Census designated place. Both are in Nassau County, which belongs to the North Florida TPO region with Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties. Keep any Duval County site as its own assignment.

Employer questions

Veterinary recruiting questions

Which veterinary positions can Jacksonville employers recruit through BEGHR?

The service covers permanent associate veterinarians, veterinary specialists, emergency DVMs, surgery appointments, medical directors and regional veterinary leaders. Search fit depends on the role, clinical requirements and employer brief. The practice makes the final hiring decision.

Is this for employers hiring veterinarians or for job applications?

This website is for practice owners and employer hiring teams seeking permanent veterinary staff. Its form requests a hiring brief and returns a placement estimate after employer opt-in. It is not an open-jobs directory or a candidate application form.

How does milestone billing work?

Agree the role, estimated fee range, billable milestones and payment terms before the search begins. Recruiting uses an hourly, pay-as-you-go model within the agreed range. BEGHR’s published placement process starts billing after applicants are sent. Invoices follow the agreed cadence, at least monthly during billable service delivery. BEGHR handles client billing and account questions.

Do we pay if a search does not result in a hire?

Milestone billing pays for agreed work as the search progresses, so completed billable milestones may still be payable without a placement. Your client agreement specifies the billing triggers, amounts, due dates and any cancellation terms.

Where can we see our placement price?

Select your role, complete the hiring questions and submit your employer contact details through the pricing form to receive an estimated fee range. BEGHR confirms the role classification, final fee and payment milestones before you engage the service.

How long does placement take?

BEGHR’s placement timeframe is 23–55 days. Timing depends on the role, candidate availability and the employer’s hiring process.

How does BEGHR pricing compare with contingency recruiting?

BEGHR offers placement at typically 50% less than contingency recruiting and 50% off second and subsequent hires for the same role. Use the pricing form for an estimate and confirm your fee and repeat-hire eligibility before starting.

What fill rate does BEGHR report?

BEGHR reports 86% fill rate on active searches across its placement service. This provider-wide figure is not a city-specific or veterinary-only result and does not guarantee an individual hiring outcome.

Who receives my employer inquiry?

Business Executive Group receives your contact information, selected roles, qualification answers, placement estimate and the originating website and page through its existing BEGHR lead intake. This is an employer inquiry, not a candidate job application.

How are placement fees confirmed?

The instant-pricing form uses BEGHR’s role categories and current retail ranges to show an estimate after you submit your employer details. The provider confirms the actual category, scope, payment milestones and commercial terms before a search engagement begins.
